MULTIPLE PACKS
Dispensing multiple packs or multiple repeats of prescription medication
- As pharmacists we must always comply explicitly with your doctors prescribed directions this includes the quantity of the prescription goods to be supplied. Therefore the only time we can supply an increased quantity of a prescribed medicine is if the doctor prescribes that quantity for you.
AUTHORITY PRESCRIPTION
- Some PBS medications are restricted and require prior approval from Medicare before a doctor is able to prescribe them on the PBS. This prior approval to prescribe grants the doctor the Authority to prescribe the desired medicine and have it funded under the PBS.
Authority to prescribe an Authority medicine is granted for specific indications and/or for certain patient circumstances. Authority may be obtained by telephone to Medicare Australia (known as "phone approval") or in writing from an authorised delegate of the Minister for Health.
Prescriptions must be written on an Authority Prescription Form, and the approval number must be noted on the prescription. Pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has been approved by Medicare Australia (indicated by the presence of the approval number).
Some drugs may have Authority Required (Streamlined) status which does not require an explicit approval from Medicare, instead the doctor can use the Authority code found in the published Schedule for a given drug/indication.
But still pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has the necessary Authority code.

- This product is a Pharmacist Only Medicine and requires pharmacist advice before we can dispatch this product. You must first place the order and then contact our pharmacists within 48 hours on 1300 367 283.
The pharmacist will determine if this product is appropriate for you and if so, approve the order. In the event that you do not do this, the product will be deleted from your order and the balance of your order will be dispatched.
This is not required if you have a doctor's prescription.

Demazin Cold Relief Clear Syrup 200ml
Demazin Syrup is especially formulated for children and adults for the relief of symptoms of colds and allergies, without any artificial colourings.

Some medicines should not be taken with Demazin Clear. These include:
* monoamine oxidase inhibitors, medicines used to treat depression
* heart or blood pressure medicines
* antidepressants
* medicine to prevent blood clots
* antacids / kaolin
* appetite suppressants
These medicines may be affected by Demazin Clear, or may affect how well it works. You may need different amounts of your medicine, or you may need to take different medicines. Your doctor or pharmacist will advise you.

* Demazin Cold Relief Clear may cause drowsiness. Make sure you know how you react to Demazin Clear before you drive a car or operate machinery.
Do not take Demazin Clear if you have, or have had, any of the following medical conditions:
* narrow angle glaucoma
* difficulty passing urine.
* severe high blood pressure
* severe blood vessel disease
* an overactive thyroid gland
- Do not take Demazin Clear if you are taking or within 14 days of discontinuing monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), medicines used to treat depression.
- Do not take Demazin Clear if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless you and your doctor or pharmacist have discussed the risks and benefits involved.
* Demazin Clear contains sorbitol which may have a laxative effect or cause diarrhoea in some people.
* Stop taking Demazin Clear 48 hours before you have any skin tests. Antihistamines may interfere with the results of skin tests.

Recommended Dosage: For oral use only
Children:6-12 years: 8-15ml every 6-8 hrs
Adults and children 12 years and over: 15 mL every 6 hours

Demazin Clear provides relief of upper respiratory congestion associated with common cold, nasal allergy, hayfever and sinusitis.
Demazin Clear contains a combination of two medicines, an antihistamine and a decongestant.
Antihistamines help reduce allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny or itchy nose, and burning or itchy eyes by preventing the effects of a substance called histamine.
Histamine is produced by the body in response to foreign substances which the body is allergic to.
Decongestants produce narrowing of blood vessels. This leads to clearing of the stuffy or blocked nose.
Demazin Clear can be used in adults and children.
