MULTIPLE PACKS
Dispensing multiple packs or multiple repeats of prescription medication
- As pharmacists we must always comply explicitly with your doctors prescribed directions this includes the quantity of the prescription goods to be supplied. Therefore the only time we can supply an increased quantity of a prescribed medicine is if the doctor prescribes that quantity for you.
AUTHORITY PRESCRIPTION
- Some PBS medications are restricted and require prior approval from Medicare before a doctor is able to prescribe them on the PBS. This prior approval to prescribe grants the doctor the Authority to prescribe the desired medicine and have it funded under the PBS.
Authority to prescribe an Authority medicine is granted for specific indications and/or for certain patient circumstances. Authority may be obtained by telephone to Medicare Australia (known as "phone approval") or in writing from an authorised delegate of the Minister for Health.
Prescriptions must be written on an Authority Prescription Form, and the approval number must be noted on the prescription. Pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has been approved by Medicare Australia (indicated by the presence of the approval number).
Some drugs may have Authority Required (Streamlined) status which does not require an explicit approval from Medicare, instead the doctor can use the Authority code found in the published Schedule for a given drug/indication.
But still pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has the necessary Authority code.
PHARMACIST ONLY MEDICINE
- This product is a Pharmacist Only Medicine and requires pharmacist advice before we can dispatch this product. You must first place the order and then contact our pharmacists within 48 hours on 1300 367 283.
The pharmacist will determine if this product is appropriate for you and if so, approve the order. In the event that you do not do this, the product will be deleted from your order and the balance of your order will be dispatched.
This is not required if you have a doctor's prescription.

Bactigras 10x10cm 3 Pack
Bactigras is a medicated paraffin gauze dressing (Tulle Gras)
- Soft paraffin base
- Sterile leno weave presentation
- Contains Chlorhexidine acetate 0.5%, an antiseptic with a broad spectrum
Benefits
Soothes and protects the wound and allows free passage of viscous exudate
- Bactigras is soothing and low-adherent and allows the wound to drain freely into an absorbent secondary dressing.
Maintains shape, resists fraying
- Bactigras is a sterile paraffin Tulle Gras dressing made from open weave gauze. The gauze has interlocking threads which minimise fraying when the dressing is cut to shape.
Reduces risk of infection
-The antiseptic efficacy of Bactigras is unaffected by serum and blood.
- Demonstrated to be effective in-vitro and in-vivo against MRSA
- Reduces the risk of colonisation.
- Proven antiseptically active against a wide range of Gram positive and Gram negative organisms.

BACTIGRAS dressings should not be used in known cases of sensitivity or allergy to chlorhexidine.

适应症
Bactigras is intended for use as a wound contact layer for wounds such as:
Minor burns and scalds
Lacerations, abrasions and other skin loss wounds
Donor and recipient graft sites
Leg ulcers, where the wound is no more than 10% of the body area, where there is a risk of infection, or on already infected wounds in conjunction with systemic antibiotics.
Precautions
Bactigras should not be used on more than 10% of the body area.
Dermatitis, contact sensitivity or photosensitivity may rarely occur. Anaphylactic reaction to chlorhexidine has been reported, but is rare.
Avoid contact with eyes, the middle ear, meninges and brain.
Bactigras is incompatible with soaps, other anionic materials, as well as potassium iodide.
The use of Bactigras with oxidising wound cleaning agents should be avoided.

Emergency department recommended
Extraordinary product for wound dressing and healing. After being recommended by emergency to use this product on an open wound about 1.5cm2 on my toe I will always have some in the cupboard. It allowed the wound to heal from the inside without attaching to dressings and without creating a scab. The healing time was very quick and the dressing changes painless and easy. A wonder-ful product.

Bactigras great for healing
I use this on open wounds like when the kids scrap their arms or legs coming off scooters skateboards etc. it promotes skin repair and reduces chance of infection.
