MULTIPLE PACKS
Dispensing multiple packs or multiple repeats of prescription medication
- As pharmacists we must always comply explicitly with your doctors prescribed directions this includes the quantity of the prescription goods to be supplied. Therefore the only time we can supply an increased quantity of a prescribed medicine is if the doctor prescribes that quantity for you.
AUTHORITY PRESCRIPTION
- Some PBS medications are restricted and require prior approval from Medicare before a doctor is able to prescribe them on the PBS. This prior approval to prescribe grants the doctor the Authority to prescribe the desired medicine and have it funded under the PBS.
Authority to prescribe an Authority medicine is granted for specific indications and/or for certain patient circumstances. Authority may be obtained by telephone to Medicare Australia (known as "phone approval") or in writing from an authorised delegate of the Minister for Health.
Prescriptions must be written on an Authority Prescription Form, and the approval number must be noted on the prescription. Pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has been approved by Medicare Australia (indicated by the presence of the approval number).
Some drugs may have Authority Required (Streamlined) status which does not require an explicit approval from Medicare, instead the doctor can use the Authority code found in the published Schedule for a given drug/indication.
But still pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has the necessary Authority code.

The pharmacist will determine if this product is appropriate for you and if so, approve the order. In the event that you do not do this, the product will be deleted from your order and the balance of your order will be dispatched.

Why choose Voltaren Emulgel?
Voltaren Emulgel is a clinically proven pain relieving medicine.
Voltaren Emulgel is used to treat pain and inflammation of muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments, due to sprains and strain, sports injuries (e.g. tennis elbow) and soft tissue rheumatism (e.g. bursitis, tendinitis).
Voltaren Emulgel contains the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), diclofenac, which works to relieve pain and reduces inflammation (swelling). It has a cooling, moisturising effect with no strong odours.
- Treats pain and inflammation
- The clinically proven active ingredient, diclofenac, penetrates into the skin to the source of inflammation. It relieves pain 2x faster (50%, pain relief at 2 days vs 5 days for placebo).
- How does it work?
- The emulgel technology helps the diclofenac to penetrate deeply into the skin to enhance delivery of diclofenac to the site of the pain. The emulsion gel combines the properties of a gel and a cream, so it both cools and has a moisturizing effect.
- Topical formulation
- Voltaren gels are topical treatments, which means that you apply them to the skin directly at the point of pain, for targeted pain relief. It is proven to reduce acute pain within one hour of application.
- Muscle pain
- Muscle aches and pains are very common, leaving you feeling miserable and sore. Aches and pains can be caused by a number of factors, such as injury or overuse.
- Back Pain
- Back pain is very common and affects people of all ages. Most people experience back pain at somepoint in their lives. The pain usually feels like an ache, pain or stiffness in the back.
- Sports injuries
- Sports injuries are commonly caused by overuse, direct impact or a strong application of force, when playing sport or exercising.
