MULTIPLE PACKS
Dispensing multiple packs or multiple repeats of prescription medication
- As pharmacists we must always comply explicitly with your doctors prescribed directions this includes the quantity of the prescription goods to be supplied. Therefore the only time we can supply an increased quantity of a prescribed medicine is if the doctor prescribes that quantity for you.
AUTHORITY PRESCRIPTION
- Some PBS medications are restricted and require prior approval from Medicare before a doctor is able to prescribe them on the PBS. This prior approval to prescribe grants the doctor the Authority to prescribe the desired medicine and have it funded under the PBS.
Authority to prescribe an Authority medicine is granted for specific indications and/or for certain patient circumstances. Authority may be obtained by telephone to Medicare Australia (known as "phone approval") or in writing from an authorised delegate of the Minister for Health.
Prescriptions must be written on an Authority Prescription Form, and the approval number must be noted on the prescription. Pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has been approved by Medicare Australia (indicated by the presence of the approval number).
Some drugs may have Authority Required (Streamlined) status which does not require an explicit approval from Medicare, instead the doctor can use the Authority code found in the published Schedule for a given drug/indication.
But still pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has the necessary Authority code.

Hedrin contains dimethicone. When Hedrin is applied to the hair the lice become covered in dimethicone which coats their bodies and blocks their breathing holes. The dimethicone also penetrates the louses body and prevents them from being able to excrete water leading to death of the louse.
Live lice
Head lice are small insect creatures that live on the scalp of human heads. They live by feeding off the blood from the scalp. Lice will normally feed 2-3 times a day and can be found at the base of the hair follicle and normally latch onto the hair strands. The head lice appears as a greyish brown colour and depending on their maturity the largest louse are normally the size of a sesame seed.
Clinically proven to kill head lice and their eggs in 15 minutes. Head lice cannot build up resistance against Hedrin products. Hedrin products have a physical mode of action, and instead of poisoning the louse, they work by coating it and disrupting its ability to manage water causing it to die. Hedrin is a non-pesticide treatment. This means lice are unlikely to develop resistance.
Hedrin has been clinically tested to kill lice and eggs in one go. If you are using Hedrin in order to ensure that the lice are effectively eradicated, a second dose lotion should be applied seven days after the first treatment to deal with any eggs which may have hatched since the first application. The empty egg cases are glued to the hair but are completely harmless.
Checking for Head Lice - Checking your child's hair only takes a few minutes and can easily become a routine, just like brushing their teeth or combing their hair.
Step 1
Use a comb made for the purpose, ideally white so the lice can be seen easily and with teeth no more than 0.3mm apart in order to trap head lice - research has found detection combing was four times more effective than visual inspection

Comb through the hair using a conditioner, which can help make the process more comfortable

Ensure the lighting in the room is good
Make sure you divide the child's hair into sections and insert the comb at the roots before gliding outwards
Step 4
You are looking for a living, moving louse. They range in size from a full stop to a sesame seed depending on their age. When it first hatches, a young louse (known as a nymph) is transparent but after its first blood meal, it will darken to a greyish brown colour. Head lice live on, or very close to, the scalp and don't wander far along the hair shaft unless encouraged to move to a new head.

Hedrin 15 Liquid Gel has been specifically formulated with non-volatile ingredients. However, normal safety precautions should be observed. Hair and clothing should always be kept away from naked flames and other sources of ignition. If a member of the family has live head lice, check other family members and treat all other cases of live head lice which age discovered at the same time.

Hedrin 15 Liquid gel is slippery. Bath, showers ets may become slippery when using or washing the hair. Wash any residue away with detergent and warm water. Do not use if allergic to any of the ingredients in Hedrin 15 Spray Gel. If a skin rash or other signs of allergy occur, stop use. Wash skin with soap and water and seek medical advice. Avoid contact with the eyes. If accidentally swallowed consult a doctor as soon as possible. Take the pack with you to show which product you have swallowed. Do not use on broken skin.

Apply sufficient gel evenly over DRY hair so the hair is saturated. Work into hair with finger or comb spreading gel evenly from roots to tips. Leave on hair for 15 minutes (Or longer). BEFORE wetting, apply shampoo directly to the surface of the hair, ensuring full coverage.

Great Product
Great product I used the whole bottle as I have very long and thick hair and it killed all lice and eggs. I have a sensitive scalp and this product did not irritate me. It was also odourless which is a plus as not many treatments are odourless. Overall this is a great product.
