MULTIPLE PACKS
Dispensing multiple packs or multiple repeats of prescription medication
- As pharmacists we must always comply explicitly with your doctors prescribed directions this includes the quantity of the prescription goods to be supplied. Therefore the only time we can supply an increased quantity of a prescribed medicine is if the doctor prescribes that quantity for you.
AUTHORITY PRESCRIPTION
- Some PBS medications are restricted and require prior approval from Medicare before a doctor is able to prescribe them on the PBS. This prior approval to prescribe grants the doctor the Authority to prescribe the desired medicine and have it funded under the PBS.
Authority to prescribe an Authority medicine is granted for specific indications and/or for certain patient circumstances. Authority may be obtained by telephone to Medicare Australia (known as "phone approval") or in writing from an authorised delegate of the Minister for Health.
Prescriptions must be written on an Authority Prescription Form, and the approval number must be noted on the prescription. Pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has been approved by Medicare Australia (indicated by the presence of the approval number).
Some drugs may have Authority Required (Streamlined) status which does not require an explicit approval from Medicare, instead the doctor can use the Authority code found in the published Schedule for a given drug/indication.
But still pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has the necessary Authority code.

- This product is a Pharmacist Only Medicine and requires pharmacist advice before we can dispatch this product. You must first place the order and then contact our pharmacists within 48 hours on 1300 367 283.
The pharmacist will determine if this product is appropriate for you and if so, approve the order. In the event that you do not do this, the product will be deleted from your order and the balance of your order will be dispatched.
This is not required if you have a doctor's prescription.

What does Panadol Optizorb relieve?
Headache
Headaches can feel dull or tense and can last for hours or come on quickly and disappear. Symptoms include pain in or around the head, stiffness in the neck and at ender scalp. Try resting and relaxing, apply a heat pack against the painful area or receive a head, neck or shoulder massage.
Fever
Arise in temperature often happens during common illnesses like the flu as your body fights off germs. When experiencing discomfort, you can help reduce your temperature by taking anantipyretic, or fever reducer, like paracetamol or ibuprofen at the recommended doses, stay hydrated, get plenty of rest or dab a wet towel on your forehead. Remember to always seek the advice of your doctor if you're still unwell after 48 hours.
Cold & Flu Symptoms
Whether you've got a cold or theflu, you're likely to experience symptoms like a cough, headache and sore throat. While resting, drinking plenty of fluids, staying warm and eating well can help relieve such symptoms, pain relief medication can help, too.

Do not use Panadol with OPTIZORB FORMULATION
• If you are allergic to paracetamol or hydroxybenzoates
• If using other medicines containing paracetamol
• For children below age 7, except on medical advice
• For more than 48 hours for children aged 7-17 except on medical advice
• For more than a few days at a time in adults except on medical advice
• If any of the seals on this packaging are broken
• If the package use-by date below has expired
• Until you read the enclosed leaflet carefully

• If you are taking warfarin (a medicine used to thin the blood)
Stop use and see your doctor immediately if
You have an allergic skin reaction, shortness of breath or wheezing after taking Panadol
While using this product
If an overdose is taken or suspected, ring the Poisons Information Centre (AUST: 13 11 26; NZ: 0800 764 766) or go to the hospital immediately, even if you feel well because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage if left untreated.
