MULTIPLE PACKS
Dispensing multiple packs or multiple repeats of prescription medication
- As pharmacists we must always comply explicitly with your doctors prescribed directions this includes the quantity of the prescription goods to be supplied. Therefore the only time we can supply an increased quantity of a prescribed medicine is if the doctor prescribes that quantity for you.
AUTHORITY PRESCRIPTION
- Some PBS medications are restricted and require prior approval from Medicare before a doctor is able to prescribe them on the PBS. This prior approval to prescribe grants the doctor the Authority to prescribe the desired medicine and have it funded under the PBS.
Authority to prescribe an Authority medicine is granted for specific indications and/or for certain patient circumstances. Authority may be obtained by telephone to Medicare Australia (known as "phone approval") or in writing from an authorised delegate of the Minister for Health.
Prescriptions must be written on an Authority Prescription Form, and the approval number must be noted on the prescription. Pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has been approved by Medicare Australia (indicated by the presence of the approval number).
Some drugs may have Authority Required (Streamlined) status which does not require an explicit approval from Medicare, instead the doctor can use the Authority code found in the published Schedule for a given drug/indication.
But still pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has the necessary Authority code.

- This product is a Pharmacist Only Medicine and requires pharmacist advice before we can dispatch this product. You must first place the order and then contact our pharmacists within 48 hours on 1300 367 283.
The pharmacist will determine if this product is appropriate for you and if so, approve the order. In the event that you do not do this, the product will be deleted from your order and the balance of your order will be dispatched.
This is not required if you have a doctor's prescription.

一般信息
What PROCTOSEDYL is used for
Suppositories are used for the relief of the discomfort of haemorrhoids (piles) and other painful conditions of the anus (rear end), such as fissures (tears). Haemorrhoids often result when people strain while trying to open their bowel (defecate). This problem is often, but not always, associated with low-fibre diets.
Suppositories contain the active ingredients hydrocortisone, a steroid, and cinchocaine hydrochloride, a local anaesthetic. These work together to reduce swelling, numb pain and relieve itching.
Your doctor or pharmacist, however, may reccommend PROCTOSEDYL for another purpose.
Some symptoms of an allergic reaction include skin rash, itching, shortness of breath or swelling of the face, lips or tongue, which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing.
SUPPOSITORIES may hide signs of infection. As for all steroid preparations, do not use PROCTOSEDYL when infections affecting the anus or surrounding area are present eg sexually-transmitted diseases such as herpes.
Before you start to use it
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have allergies to:
any of the ingredients listed at the end of this leaflet
any other substances, such as foods, preservatives or dyes.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have or have had any medical conditions, especially the following:
cuts or abrasions in the area of the anus eg if there is blood on toilet paper or in the toilet after opening the bowels.
Your doctor or pharmacist will need to consider this when recommending treatment with PROCTOSEDYL.
PROCTOSEDYL does not treat these conditions. Your doctor or pharmacist may need to provide treatment for these conditions.

During your second week of use, you may be able to use PROCTOSEDYL twice a day, and then once daily in your third week of use.
Do not use this medicine to treat any other complaints unless your doctor or pharmacist tells you to.

Do not give PROCTOSEDYL to children under 12 years of age.
Do not use it after the expiry date (EXP) printed on the pack.
If you use it after the expiry date has passed, it may not work as well.
Do not use it if the packaging is torn/damaged or shows signs of tampering.

Active Ingredients:
hydrocortisone 5 mg and cinchocaine hydrochloride 5 mg per suppository
Inactive Ingredients:
hard fat
PROCTOSEDYL does not contain gluten, sucrose, lactose, tartrazine or any other azo dyes.

Suppositories:
Remove the suppository from its packaging.
Moisten the suppository by dipping it briefly in cool water.
Put one foot on the side of the bath or toilet, raising the knee to the ches
